Milenyo Breakfast

(written on 28 September 2006)

The weather report says the eye of the storm Milenyo will hit Metro Manila around 11 am. Classes were announced suspended last night. And this morning, all offices, classes up to the post graduate level and even stock market trading have been suspended too.

Which means we got a break. So Benc and I decided to cook something special for breakfast.

We bought some pizza crust, and ingredients to match: eggplant, shiitake mushrooms, green pepper, cheese basil leaves and ragu sauce. We grated, sliced and spread the ingredients, and baked everything for 8 to 10 minutes.

After ten minutes, it looked gorgeous. It smelled and tasted better than fastfood pizza (naks). It was healthy too: all veggies and good stuff. We did one pizza with cheese and the other without. Both tasted grrrreat! I had two slices, Benc had everything else. Hehehe.

Looks like there'll be new some new additions to our grocery list.

There are areas today that still do not have electricity; places like my mom's, which is beside a baranggay hall, the MRT and is a few kilometers away from the Quezon City Municipal Hall. The electrical posts were uprooted, the telephone lines are plucked out of their sockets. To this day, three days after the storm, there is still no action.

Can they be any more efficient?

I understand that there is much to do still: lots of cleaning and clearing up to do, but hell! Can't we do something about restoring electricity to homes, and start remembering that people actually live here?!

Sheesh.
