it means my world has stood still
because I was humiliated
or horrified
or hurt.
Or I was all three.
And I am in a transparent plastic bag
where I can see clearly all that is happening around me
but not really comprehending
from the lack of oxygen in my brain.
My thoughts start to swirl
and my vision of the future starts to blur
and I begin to wither inside myself.
My soul suffocates
and my spirit is hushed.
